Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type

People with this ADHD type exhibit impulsive and hyperactive behaviour; while inattention isn’t a big issue, people in this category still find it difficult to focus. The major characteristics exhibited by people in these categories include fidgeting, excessive talking, ignoring instructions, and trouble waiting in turns.

Combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive type

The combined ADHD type is the most common. People with this disorder have a tendency towards impulsiveness and the inability to pay attention.

The type of ADHD exhibited will determine the treatment action taken. The doctor will also indicate the severity of the condition. Conditions are classified from mild to moderate.

Mild is when the patient exhibits minor impairment with enough symptoms to meet the diagnosis criteria. Moderate indicates that the impairment is more significant, while severe means the patient exhibits many symptoms in addition to significant impairment.

Causes of ADHD

Despite being a common disorder, doctors are still baffled at what causes ADHD, although it is believed to have neurological origins. Moreover, genetics can also play a huge part in the cause.
